nectarine crostiniThese are interesting little snacks.  The combination seems pretty weird, but the flavors are actually delicious together.  When the sweetness of the nectarine and honey meet the nuttiness of the bleu cheese spread, it’s a perfect match.

I’ve gotten nectarines in my CSA from Strites’ Orchard two weeks in a row now, so I knew I had do something creative with them this week.  Nectarines are one of my favorite summer fruits.  I love how they are the ideal balance of sweet and tangy.

If you’re not a fan of the pungent bleu cheese, feel free to use goat cheese or another soft cheese.  The fruit can be changed up, too.  Try peaches or grapes instead of the nectarines.  But, try this just the way it is first.  It’s hard to describe how good it is.  You’ll just have to taste it yourself.  nectarine crostini

I’m also making pulled buffalo chicken in the slow cooker for happy hour today.  We have over neighbors and friends every Saturday for dinner and drinks and lots of laughter.  It’s always a good time.

These little crostinis will be a perfect side for the buffalo chicken.
