4 Nonalcoholic Cocktails Featuring Lyre’s

It’s still Dry January, but even if it wasn’t, nonalcoholic cocktails are delicious all year round.  Finding nonalcoholic spirits has inspired me to create fun mocktails like the nonalcoholic apple cider.4 nonalcoholic cocktails featuring Lyre's Pinterest pin

Lyre’s American Malt is the replacement for whiskey in these drinks. It has a really nice bourbon flavor without all the burn. Lyre’s Aperitif Rosso takes the place of vermouth. The bitters I use are from Hella Cocktail Co. Bitters do contain alcohol but are similar to vanilla extract so there is only a trace amount. The American Malt and Aperitif Rosso have <0.5% ABV.  If you don’t have a cocktail shaker, a mason jar and a strainer will do the trick!

1. Blood and Sand

This nonalcoholic drink is my take on a Blood and Sand cocktail. Blood and Sand dates back to the 1930s.  It’s got a nice mellow sweetness and the cherry flavor shines through the most. It’s a nice drink to relax with.

2. Boulevardier

Next up is a nonalcoholic take on a Boulevardier. The Boulevardier is a classic cocktail that dates back to the 1920s.  It is the perfect combination of spiciness from the cinnamon, and sweetness from the grenadine and oranges. Aquafaba foams up just as nicely as egg whites and you can’t taste it at all. Out of all the nonalcoholic cocktails on this list, this Boulevardier inspired drink is my favorite.

3. Affinity

I found a recipe for the Affinity cocktail in a 1908 newspaper article. The article says, “After drinking one, surviving experimenters declare the horizon takes on a roseate hue.” While you may not experience that when you drink this, I still think it will become a quick and easy staple in your nonalcoholic drink go-tos.  Make sure you shake this pretty well to get the powdered sugar well mixed into the drink. Orange is the key flavor in this drink, and it’s got a nice little bit of spice on the back end.

4. Bourbon Milk Punch

Finally, up on this list nonalcoholic cocktails is a drink that is almost exactly a Bourbon Milk Punch. Instead of simple syrup and vanilla, I made a vanilla simple syrup. I highly recommend a sprinkle of cinnamon on top.  It’s a tasty and frothy drink best drank as soon as it is poured.
