2023 Spring & Summer Capsule Wardrobe

I can’t remember the last time I updated my wardrobe, but it was overdue! I decided on a capsule wardrobe as a way to save time and money on new clothes. A capsule wardrobe helps you simplify the way you dress, and it reduces cluttering your closets and dressers with clothes you don’t wear. You can mix and match pieces to show off your own unique style. It can also be sustainable. By choosing basic pieces that never go out of style, you can have a wardrobe that will last you for years.

I am not starting my capsule wardrobe from scratch because that is not sustainable. I went through all the clothes that no longer fit or I no longer wear and donated them to Community Aid, a local thrift shop that gives back to the community.

I started my capsule wardrobe using a color palette from clothes I already own. Basic colors are black, white, and beige. I chose a soft pink and navy blue for the accent colors.

I don’t have an office job and I don’t go out too much, so my capsule wardrobe reflects comfort and simplicity.  The majority of the clothes in my capsule wardrobe are from Old Navy.

Choose clothes that reflect who you are and you’ll be set.

Tops

First up is tops. I bought a basic pink tank top and a pink bodysuit. I already owned a pink and white striped t-shirt, navy blue t-shirt, and a white blouse. The tank and bodysuit can be layered with outerwear. And guess what! The jumpsuit has snaps. Always a good feature to have. The t-shirts are great on warm days and the blouse will work best when it’s a little chilly.

Bottoms

Remember when I said that I donated all the clothes that no longer fit me? Well, a lot of them were bottoms. My bottoms for my capsule wardrobe are denim shorts, a khaki skort, pink shorts, black leggings, and a pair of floral leggings. I already owned the floral leggings.

Jumpsuits and Dresses

I have a pink t-shirt dress that was already in my closet and I added a pink jumpsuit.pink jumpsuit

Outerwear

I love the sweatshirt I got from a small business called Breezy Creations. The design is hand drawn and printed.

Shoes & Accessories

What shoes and accessories do you need for a capsule wardrobe? Like I said at the beginning of the post, choose what reflects your personality and style and you won’t go wrong.
I am not a big shoe person, so I’ve got some cute flats and slip-ons that I wear every day.  I occasionally wear jewelry, but mostly stick to the basics such as a cute pair of studs or simple necklace.  I keep my hair short, but I have diamond bobby pins from my Kinder beauty box that I use sometimes.

Is nail polish an accessory? Well it is now. I bought super cute pink nail polish from Mooncat, which is woman-owned, and the nail polishes are vegan and cruelty free.
