Did you enjoy my recipe for wildflower honey simple syrup? Well, I’ve got one even better for you today: cherry simple syrup. You can pour it over pancakes or ice cream and even use it to sweeten up your Dry January mocktails.
I love sweet cherries. As it’s winter here, they’re not in season, so I used a bag of frozen cherries from Walmart. They’re already pitted and ready to use so I didn’t have to do any extra work. There are no preservatives or extra ingredients and so this syrup will keep in the fridge for about a month. I store mine in a glass mason jar.
Simply simmer the ingredients, muddle the cherries, and strain the syrup into a container and you’re done! Well almost! We don’t like anything to go to waste in this house, so after straining the cherry simple syrup, I used the leftover cherries in a batch of brownies for a sweet treat!
