Are Gobble recipes chronic illness friendly? Check out my Gobble meal kit review to see if it may be right for you!

On a quest to find healthy meals and reduce food waste, I have decided to try out different meal kits. As you may know, I am chronically ill, so recipe choices and my ability to prepare them is dependent on my symptoms day by day.

I chose Gobble as my next meal kit to review mainly because they have a plant based in Lancaster and I love supporting local businesses, but also because the chefs at Gobble pre-cut and prepare all the ingredients, so no measuring is required.

Cost: First time customers can choose 6 meals for $36. This is actually 3 different meals with 2 servings each. Gobble meal kits are regularly $11.99 per serving which is on the high end for meal kit prices.

Shipping: Gobble has a delivery window of 8am to 8pm on the day of your choice, which is either a Tuesday or Thursday. My delivery arrived on Tuesday in great condition.

Selection: There are 13 meals to choose from each week under the categories of classic, vegetarian or lean and clean. The classic meals contain meat or seafood, and the lean and clean meals are always 600 calories each and low carb. Some of the recipes give you the option to personalize the protein, but these options cost extra.

Like HelloFresh, I found the meal choices to be limited as far as being chronic illness friendly. Gobble has add ons like salads, breakfasts, soups, and cookies.Gobble Meal Kit Review Barramundi

I chose Black Pepper Chicken with Stir-Fry Vegetables & Jasmine Rice, Lemon Pepper Shrimp & Cavatappi Pasta with Creamy Garlic Pesto, and Seared Chicken with Sugar Snap Peas, Sherry Vinaigrette, & Goat Cheese, but instead of the seared chicken, I substituted barramundi.

What’s Included: Each meal comes individually packed with fresh ingredients pre-portioned and ready to prepare. The recipe card is included in the meal kit packaging. The meats and seafood are packaged separately. Gobble even included a little two pack of chocolate chip cookies which I loved.Gobble Meal Kit Review Cookies

Preparation: I recommend a pair of scissors to open the packaging since it’s not easy to do otherwise. Each recipe has minimal steps and is ready fairly quickly! The lemon pepper shrimp was the first meal I tried and I didn’t have to do any chopping or measuring. There was some minimal chopping to do with the other two recipes. I really love that all the recipes take only 15 minutes to make.Gobble Meal Kit Review Stir Fry

Additional Thoughts: The meal kits say they are for two servings, but they make a lot more! The lemon pepper shrimp and cavatappi was closer to four servings than two. This is really great for having leftovers the next day or two. The ingredients arrived fresh and were all high quality.

The website is not the best as far as user experience goes. I had to search how to deactivate my subscription and click through the link on that. It did not save my choices or delivery day the first time I tried using it, so I had to redo all of that. Another tip is to not click the back button on your browser, but only use the buttons on the website.

Overall Review: I hope you found my Gobble meal kit review helpful.  Gobble is great for those who would like to have fresh ingredients and to prepare recipes themselves. If your chronic illness is dynamic like mine, the fresh ingredients can go bad if you don’t cook them soon enough. However, the flavors are great and you can substitute different proteins to suit your diet. I would like to see more choices that lean toward chronic illness friendly if I try Gobble again.

Overall, I rate Gobble 4/5.
