This morning my dad and I drove to Lancaster to check out the new Whole Foods that just opened there.  I was happily surprised to find a lot of local products available. If you didn’t know, Amazon owns Whole Foods and if you’ve got an Amazon Prime Membership, you can get special deals and extra discounts on a variety of items.  Try out Amazon Prime free for 30 days and don’t forget to download the Whole Foods app to save!

I would be remiss if I didn’t say that I was disappointed to see all the non-gmo labelling on Whole Foods’ products, but you’ll find that in a store that values selling organic foods.  Luckily, it was still easy to find delicious and local products that don’t have a non-gmo label on them.

Moving on!  I mentioned Whole Foods because I bought a pineapple and papaya there to complement the Pineapple Papaya BBQ sauce on these BBQ chicken kabobs.  Let me tell you something, you have not lived until you’ve had grilled pineapple. I found that cutting the whole pineapple into chunks was not as daunting a task as it seemed.  This video will help you out a lot!

I marinated the chicken in the sauce about four hours, but you can leave it longer if you need to.  Once you’ve got all the fruits and veggies chopped, it’s time to thread the kabobs.  I threaded the chicken first, followed by the onion, peppers, pineapple, and finally the papaya.

Place them carefully on the grill and cook about 15 minutes, coating them with the remaining sauce and rotating about halfway through.  Keep an eye on your chicken as it may need more time to cook thoroughly.

I realized too late that I forgot to get a picture of the Torchbearer Sauces Pineapple Papaya barbecue sauce bottle, so here’s a picture of the (almost) empty bottle!  You can buy their sauces online or check out this page for where to buy locally!
